Yellowing on white midsoles is mostly UV oxidation of the rubber compound, which is why shoes stored near a sunny window yellow faster than ones kept in a closet. A useful rule: if it's going under a blazer or being seen at work, iron it; if it's staying at home, fold it. Splitting one laundry bag into both categories at drop-off, instead of choosing one service for everything, is usually the cheapest way to get both convenience and a crisp wardrobe.

Carpets and heavy blankets that go into monsoon storage un-cleaned tend to trap moisture and dust that turns into mildew and a musty smell within weeks — you won't notice until you unpack them. A proper deep clean and full dry-out before storage is the single biggest thing that prevents this, more than any storage bag or moth ball.
